Fun Fact: It was on a spontaneous staycation in 2012 only about 50 minutes away from where Andrew and Elizabeth lived in Connecticut, that the idea of The Whittaker Inn began.

It is fun to travel far and wide, but we know sometimes life just doesn’t allow for those big trips, and frankly we just don’t always have the energy, time, or resources to plan the big trips. BUT, it is still so important to treat ourselves periodically to a getaway from the day to day of our lives, to celebrate a special moment or to take a mental health break. You don’t have to travel far to have fun!

At The Whittaker we will start your day off with a made to order breakfast. Then we will be your home base to come back to after your explorations to relax, reflect on your day’s adventures, recharge your batteries for tomorrow, and maybe make plans for your next big trip.

When Elizabeth & Andrew dreamed up the concept of The Whittaker Inn, they always wanted it to be a place that connected their guests to new experiences. We look forward to having you join us for this special mid-week Staycation package that highlights some of this community’s unique offerings.

We are blessed to have several local treasures to explore here in the Greater Lafayette community. These places are in high demand on the weekends, so we created this midweek staycation offering to partner with them on weekdays to showcase what they have to offer without the crowds.

With this package, you get to curate your own Staycation with the partners listed below based upon your interests. These local businesses have joined with us to bring you an exclusive “Whittaker Guest Staycation” experience or offer. We have provided instructions with each Partner listing on their offer and how to redeem. Where additional reservations are required we have provided links and modes of communication for you to confirm those experiences with these local attractions.

Wolf Park

Guests of The Whittaker can arrange animal handling demonstrations Sunday through Thursday and exclusive feeding experiences Sunday or Wednesday evenings by calling Wolf Park and making reservations with Nikki Yoder, Nikki@wolfpark.org. This exclusive offering is available for $100.00 for groups of up to 6 people. Make the subject/title of your email Whittaker Staycation and include the dates of your stay and hotel confirmation #. The Wolf Park team is excited to host you!

Rose and Wick

Feeling crafty? Make an individualized scented candle in a special Whittaker inspired vessel with our local Candlemaker at Rose and Wick. Rose + Wick is a custom candle studio where each guest can create a perfect blend! They offer over 70 scents that you can blend to create a truly unique candle. How fun to take a piece of your Staycation home as a special candle and be reminded of your fabulous Lafayette Experience every time your light it in your home. Private candle making experiences can be arranged Sunday through Thursday by using the online reservation system. Make sure you put Whittaker Inn and your confirmation number in your reservation notes so they are prepared with your Whittaker exclusive vessel!

McCord Candies

Step back in time at this classic candy shop on main street in Downtown Lafayette! McCord created a specialty Whittaker fountain drink just for our guests, you will receive a physical coupon upon check-in that you can present at McCord to claim your complimentary "Whittaker" drink with a full price purchase of $15.

Farm at Prophetstown

The Farm at Prophetstown is a living museum that is a true representation of a 1920s family farm. Here, you can enjoy a walking tour of the two beautiful museum homes and gardens, followed by a carriage ride tour around the rest of The Farm. You'll conclude your tour with a cup of tea in the Tenant House. Our original Sears and Roebuck home will be yours for the two hours you spend with us. Enjoy morning tea in an intimate setting that few get to experience!

This exclusive experience is offered in partnership with The Whittaker Inn and costs $40 per person or $75 for two! Please call at least seven days in advance (765) 567-4700 to reserve your experience. Available days may vary. This 2 hour experience will begin at 9 AM. The maximum capacity for Tea in the Tenant House is 4 people. The gate fee for Prophetstown State Park is not included in the price. You must provide your hotel confirmation # at the time of booking this experience.

HAAN Museum of Indiana Art

Guests of The Whittaker can arrange one on one docent led tours at The Haan Museum of Indiana Art, Monday through Thursday. This exclusive tour includes complete access to this historic home and all of its beautifully curated galleries, as well as the Gardens and Sculpture walk. It then concludes with a self-guided Up Close Art and Culture Investigation allowing guests a hands-on deep dive into the collection. Artists Own Gallery

Guests of The Whittaker can arrange one on one tours with one of the 5 original artist / founders of this 26 year old artist collective gallery space in downtown Lafayette. This unique collective is an important part of Lafayette Arts Community and Downtown Lafayette. These tours provide exclusive access to the gallery collections during and outside normal gallery hours, Sunday through Thursday. To arrange a visit, call the main number - (765) 429-4478 - and leave a message for Sonya or Angie and let them know you are a guest of The Whittaker and provide your dates of stay and hotel confirmation number. Ask about available artist demonstrations and experience the best of the local art community!

Two Tulips is a Whittaker approved shop for unique gifts and everyday needs located in Lafayette, Indiana. Two Tulips offers a 10% discount to our Whittaker Staycation guests when you show your hotel confirmation letter. Stop in, shop their beautiful wares, and customize a personalized piggy bank to save for your next trip!
